ATTORNEY’S BIOGRAPHY
Dominick J. Thomas, Jr., has been a practicing attorney since his admission to the Bar in 1971, following graduation from the College of the Holy Cross and the University of Virginia School of Law.

In 1971, Atty. Thomas was commissioned a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and trained as an agent in the Office of Special Investigations (Defense Investigative Service), before transferring to the United States Army where he was commissioned a Captain in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps. He served as trial and defense counsel at Fort Hood, Texas, and was an Assistant Professor of Law and a defense counsel at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York .

Atty. Thomas joined the firm in 1977, and has developed a practice that specializes in the areas of litigation, family matters, zoning and municipal law. He has litigated personal injury, medical malpractice, uninsured/underinsured motorist, divorce, custody, and major felony criminal cases, and has appeared several times before the Connecticut Appellate Court and Supreme Court. He has also represented clients in major land use matters and appeals, and has particular expertise in the area of Planned Development Districts.

Atty. Thomas has an active municipal law practice, both as Town Attorney, as well as through his representation of individual clients with municipal and educational issues. From 1986-1987, 1995-1997, and again from 2001 to the present, he has served as Town Counsel for the Town of Oxford, handling all legal matters for the Town.

Atty. Thomas has always maintained an active role in his community. He served as President of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of the Naugatuck Valley, and is a member and General Counsel to the Birmingham Group and the Valley Mental Health Center, a member of the Valley Association of Retarded Children and Adults, a Trustee of Catholic Charities and a Valley United Way corporator. In 1991 he received the Greater Naugatuck Valley Chamber of Commerce Gold Seal Award for Community Service.
